Ready Mixed Calcium Hydroxide Paste

Indications:

•Pulp capping.

•Cavity liner.

•capping after pulpotomy

•Desensitising crowning of living stumps.

Features & Benefits:
At the base of the cavity it has a chemically neutralizing action on acids either from the mouth or the cement and prevents these attacking the pulp. Calcipulpe hardens rapidly and spontaneously without affecting the quality of the filling, if applied in thin layer.

•Calcium hydroxide protects the pulp and helps formation of secondary dentin.

•Radio opaque for short and long term follow up.

•Comes in a ready to use syringe with disposable applicators for convenience and prevention of cross contamination.

•Sufficient for around 300 Applications

Directions for Use:

At the base of the cavity: Apply Calcipulpe and allow to dry. Remove excess with the excavator. The cement may be applied directly to layer of Calcipulpe. At the base of the deep cavity: Clear the decay carefully and remove as much as possible of the softened dentine with the excavator enlarging as much as possible the base of the cavity. Place the Calcipulpe in the base of the cavity. Allow to settle and then

if necessary, remove access with excavator. Then continue with the usual filling procedure.

- Indirect contact with pulp tissue: Use one of the classic tests to verify if the pulp is vital. Proceed exactly as in the case of deep caries. Fill with zinc oxide eugenol dressing without compressing. If it has been necessary to leave a certain amount of softened dentine the patient should be seen again in three month’s time in order to verify that secondary dentine has formed, to complete the clearance of decay and put in the permanent filling.

Direct contact i.e. after pulpotomy: These delicate techniques give satisfactory results only if, on one hand, the pulp is not gangrenous (vitality tested) and, on the other, if it is not contaminated by septic debris. It is as well, before covering with Calcipulpe, to give some antibiotic treatment. Treatment should be given on two separate occasions. During the first session, remove under anaesthesia and with the excavator the softened dentine covering the pulp. According to the condition of the latter proceed with either covering or pulpotomy. Plug with a zinc oxide eugenol lining without compressing. At the second

session, after removal of the zinc oxide, cover with Calcipulpe. Allow to dry and remove excess covering the sides. Fill with zinc oxide eugenol lining without compressing. See the patient again at the end of three months in order to check if pulp is vital.

- Desensitising crowning of living stumps: Calcipulpe is applied on the living stumps before fixing the crown. A sealing cement may therefore be used without inconvenience.
